Job Description Packaging Manager

Hours: 7: 00 AM 3: 00 PM, hour lunch

Salary Range: $42-$45 annual, based on experience

Qualifications

High School education.

2+ years of management or supervisory experience with a team of 8-10 people

Ability to handle weight of up to 60 lbs. And work on feet for extended periods of time is desired.

Must have experience operating a forklift

Reports To

Warehouse Manager

Scope of Authority

Authorized to coordinate the selection and completion of packaging work orders according to the requirements of the packaging priority list.

Authorized to perform all requirements associated with completion of packaging work orders, including pulling prospective inventory from WIP warehouse locations for processing.

Authorized to perform final verification of the completion of all packaging work requirements and release inventory that has been deemed acceptable into general stock.

Authorized to stop the processing of a packaging work order upon identification of a nonconforming part condition or incorrect packaging material or supplies.

Authorized to alter or improve system procedures as required to improve productivity, safety, or accuracy.

o Includes requirement to notify and obtain approval from the VP Quality Assurance.

Responsible for the continued development and training of the Packaging staff to achieve company initiatives and company performance standards

Typical Responsibilities

Assignment of packaging work orders to employees of the Packaging Department according to the defined requirements.

Setup and operation of electronic counting scales, heat sealer, and automated packaging machine.

Responsible for reviewing daily and weekly scheduled work orders to properly plan and prioritize based on hours required to complete scheduled work and resource availability.

Maintenance of integrity of inventory, including recording final inventory count of packaged parts upon completion of a work order.

Responsible for helping ensure accurate inventory counts for parts that are packaged. This includes helping to verify counts for bulk inventory remaining for parts used for packaging, as well as re-validating packaged part counts during put away.

Maintenance of the warehouse facility.

o Includes general housekeeping of the Packaging area.

Adherence to workmanship standards and conduct codes.

o Applies to all posted or implied standards as defined by Prospect Fastener.

o Applies to all behavior and performance expectations as defined by the Personnel Policy Manual.

Training Requirements

Completion of on-the-job training according to the requirements of the Quality Policy Manual, the Quality System Procedures as defined for packaging, and all conduct and behavior codes as established by the Personnel Policy Manual.

Instruction in the use of any material handling equipment required to perform daily tasks.
